Michael Wesch: The Machine is Us/ing Us

Today, web is a whole, living ecosystem. It doesn’t have finite or even predictable dimensions. Its content is not static. Our culture is inevitably turning digital.

  • The crowd knows everything. Newspapers are already yesterdays news BUT journalism CAN be done, and done well, without newspapers.
  • Middlemen are not needed anymore. The record industry as we know it is already dead.
  • Bad products cannot be camouflaged with PR. The truth will be revealed.
  • Openness is the key to the future. Everyone has to give to the community.

That’s why it’s time to go back to basics. The web is all about sharing knowledge.
